The inspiration for this candle is the first stanza of the St. Lucian national anthem which dubs the island as the “Fairest Isle of all the earth.” In colonial times the island’s natural beauty drew references to Helen of Troy and her infamous peaks and positioning in the Caribbean Archipelago lent so many strategic advantages that Great Britain and France battled for the island a total of fourteen times (each won seven times). Sons and Daughters is a symbol of St. Lucian patriotism and a tune that every local takes pride in learning from an early age.
